Ryan Phillippe

An American actor,  Ryan Phillippe was born in New Castle Delaware on September 10, 1974. His father, Richard Phillippe, worked at Du Pont and his mother  Susan  managed a day care center in the family’s house.  He has three sisters. He studied in  New Castle Baptist Academy  where he earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do . He also played basketball and soccer. In his senior year, he was the Yearbook Editor. He never considered acting since the academy didn’t have its theater department.  Afterwards, while getting his haircut at a certain barbershop, a casting agent discovered him . From then, he  began traveling regularly, spotting for auditions, and eventually began to land modeling work. At the age of 17, as a graduate in high school he moved to the city and had jobs in restaurants and stores for him to be able to pay the bills, while building up an acting career.

Jumpstart to acting career

By the year 1992, Phillippe was offered a controversial gay role on “One Life to Live.” He then accepted for  jump-starting his career. This TV soap shooting became the training ground for a starting actor like him. As encouragement,  he received an enormous amount of fan mail  from those who can relate to his character such as the troubled teens .

But the show wrote out the character in less than a year, from  then Phillippe took the opportunity to move to Hollywood and try his luck there. In Los Angeles, he lived in a garage, skateboarding or riding a bus to audition while making his way to sustain his daily life. A struggling actor Breckin Myer offered him a ride home after one audition, who then  introduced him to  Seth Green, his roommate.

Spending nights skating and getting into street trouble, the trio became fast friends.The three were making career headway, with Phillippe’s appearance, guesting  and supporting spots on primetime TV In 1995, and finally making it to the unsold ABC pilot “Time Well Spent”  and “Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare”  of Fox TV movie.

In “Crimson Tide” (1995), Phillippe made his screen debut as a extra.  But he begun to earn his wide recognition as he became a starring role as a timid student on board a floating prep school in “White Squall.” He then  become lead role in “Little Boy Blue,” (1997)  in a dysfunctional family in the competent indie as a young man striving for normalcy  before he suddenly found himself with Sarah Michelle Gellar , Freddie Prinze, Jr. And Jennifer Love Hewitt in the horror thriller “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (1997).

Hit film propels Philippe to stardom

As the colossal hit film releases, an unprepared Phillippe becomes overnight pin-up sensation. The film’s big hit makes him to be much talked about in some gossip pages, but Phillippe continued hanging out  with his buddies on the fringe of the rich and famous.

Marriage to Witherspoon

He then met actress Reese Witherspoon, who is also at the top of her career, a bubbly and lovable actress coyly declared to the handsome actor , “I think you’re my birthday present.” at her 21st birthday party. After the party, the pair became an instant item. They started dating, a long distance love affair by phone and e-mail. After filming “I Know What You Did Last Summer“,  Phillippe returned to LA , the couple continued dating and became engaged in December 1998. In June 1999, they tied the knot  and welcomed two children, Ava and Deacon, during their seven-year marriage.

Divorce with Witherspoon

Phillippe and Witherspoon released a statement announcing that they had decided to formally separate on October 30, 2006, After more than seven years of marriage, Witherspoon filed for divorce from her husband on November 8, 2006, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause.

Continuing his career

In 2012, Phillippe released Shreveport, his directorial debut indie thriller film, with himself as the starring actor who must devise a creative escape after he was kidnapped and tortured while making a movie in Shreveport, Louisiana. This made him focus more on directing and in addition to co-producing and starring in the film, Phillippe also co-wrote the script with Joe Gossett. He won many awards and nominated in some prestigious awards too.

As of now he was seen dating a 22 year-old student and model named Paulina Slagter.
